Nov. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Japan's regular car sales rose in October, after Toyota Motor Corp., the country's biggest automaker, introduced its 10th new model this year.
Sales of passenger cars excluding minicars rose 5.5 percent from a year earlier to 234,029, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said in a release today. Toyota's sales rose 7.9 percent. Honda Motor Co., Japan's second-largest carmaker, sold 6.3 percent fewer cars while Nissan Motor Co.'s sales dropped 0.1 percent.
Passenger car sales rose for only the second month in the last 28 following Toyota's introduction of the Corolla Rumion wagon last month and of two minivans in June. Automakers are adding more models in Japan, the world's third-largest auto market, to stem a decline in sales caused by an aging population.
